EMERGE partner from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, Nadine Meertens, participated in the 2nd EIC Portfolio Workshop on 'Inside the Ethics of AI Awareness' in Uppsala, Sweden, on November 11, 2024.
The workshop gathered speakers from numerous European projects to discuss the ethical implications of designing aware artificial multi-agent systems. As we move from non-aware to aware systems, numerous benefits arise, but so do new challenges—not only in design but also in policy, testing, research, and science communication.
Bringing together EMERGE, SymAware, MetaTool, SUSTAIN, ASTOUND, CAVAA, and VALAWAI, the workshop sparked insightful discussions and set the stage for future cross-project collaboration on these crucial ethical questions. We look forward to building on these exchanges in the months and years to come.
