EMERGE partners from Delft University of Technology and University of Bristol were in Rotterdam (NL) on September 23-26, 2024, for the 40th IEEE International Conference on Robotics (ICRA).
Ebrahim Shahabi showcased the BerryTwist, a novel soft robotic gripper designed for harvesting blackberries aimed at facing the significant labour shortages in the agricultural sector, especially in fruit harvesting.
David Garzón Ramos presented the work "Designing robot swarms: a puzzle, a problem, and a mess" in which the authors comment on some challenges of designing robot swarms, and how this problem scales on complexity once we start taking into account the real-world operation of groups of robots.
Mariano Ramírez Montero presented the study titled "Learning Multi-Reference Frame Skills from Demonstration with Task-Parameterized Gaussian Processes" addressing the challenge on how to generate representations that can teach a robot to generalise what it has learned to unseen situations.
